GIFT PACKAGE INCLUDES

  • 1 x Pinot Noir 2006, Pegasus Bay

Pegasus Bay is a small family-owned and operated vineyard and winery in Waipara, New Zealand. They have made a name for themselves producing Riesling and Pinot Noir of exceptional quality. This Pinor Noir is vibrant and fresh yet with underlying complexity that will allow it to age for up to five years.

  • 1 x Plexus SGM 2006, John Duval

This G.S.M is 27% Grenache, 49% Shiraz and 24% Mourvedre. All from old vines, the Grenache is quoted as being 50-60 years old. Although 14.5% alcohol this wine is by no means heavy-handed. Delicious now but another ten years in hand.

Roberson Anecdote: When visiting the shop we blind tasted John Duval with his own 1995 Penfolds Grange. He said it was “Shiraz, New World, Good”. So don’t get too worried about sharing your own views at our next tasting.

  • 1 x Conundrum 2007, Caymus Vineyards

The Caymus Conundrum is so called because nobody, including the winemaker, has much of an idea what is in it. All we know for certain is that it consists of a blend of a large number of grape varieties and is completely delicious, being dry, floral, and complex. Eccentric winemaking at its best.

  • 1 x Explorateur Shiraz 2006, The Colonial Estate

This is Shiraz with roughly 5% Cabernet Sauvignon added to the mix - a juicy, smooth but bold wine with plenty of blueberry fruit and a hint of pepper. Will drink well for the next 10 years.

  • 1 x Chardonnay 2008, Au Bon Climat

A fantastically well-made Chardonnay in a style influenced by Burgundy but true to the Californian climate. Very well balanced and capable of ageing and improving for a few years yet.

A man of many talents, Jim Clenderden of Au Bon Climat seems able to concoct gourmet food, philosophical insight, criticism of Robert Parker and some of the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay outside of the Cote de Nuits (and have time to grow a rather attractive beard!) What a man. His wines are very much in the French tradition and develop fine secondary flavours with age.

  • 1 x Quartet N.V., Roederer Estate

Please note: All wines are subject to availability. In the event of a wine being out of stock we will substitute it with something similar and of the same or greater value. Photos are for illustrative purposes only. See our terms & conditions
