SYLVAIN CATHIARD: MASTER OF MALCONSORTS
Please note this event has already happened
Date: 7pm, Thursday 21st May 2009
Price: £80.00
When Clive Coates MW released the new edition of ‘Wines of Burgundy’ last year, eyebrows were raised at some of his choices for domaines that he considered to be in the top echelon of Burgundy producers. One of those was Sylvain Cathiard of Vosne-Romanée, who Coates described as having “a touch of genius in the winemaking”. This was confirmed at Roberson last year when we tasted his Romanée St-Vivant and the entire room was left speechless. Burgundy at its very very best. Ever since then we have been collecting together Cathiard’s wines in order to put on a tasting that showcases the talent of the man they call the ‘Master of Malconsorts. It wasn’t as easy as it sounds - these wines are all made in tiny quantities and are incredibly difficult to find.
We will be tasting:
2005 Bourgogne Rouge
2005 Nuits-St-Georges
2005 Vosne-Romanée
2004 Chambolle-Musigny ‘Clos de l’Orme’
